Really... Sony Music spotified?

Well... yes, and it sucks.
No... I don't mean the idea sucks, at the end of the day everyone's doin it now (Apple, Grooveshark, Google, Songza, and so on...) , I meant the service REALLY sucks.

For starters, if you're gonna copy something at least make it work as the original thing.

a) It lacks SO MUCH when it comes to UI design and usability/interaction. Looks, feels and acts like an old iTunes version (2004sh), enough said.

b) The so called "try it fully for 30 days, free of charge"... just like Spotify, actually it should say "Try 30 seconds of any song for life" (btw, their catalogue doesn't seem good, and maybe they do have million of songs... but then again, bad UI, bad info architecture, bad aesthetics, bad UX... and over-promised experience?).

Actually it is a bug, cause guess what? yeah, the system says you cant upgrade since you have a fully account (claimed for 30 days) but somehow within the process, songs read you actually don't have a full account and asks to upgrade... gosh...  no testing at all it seems before going live. (wanna bet they put a "BETA" sign soon? excuses...)

erm... so I do have a suscription, oh wait... no... I...but, crap.

But of course, fuck functionality, lets focus on displaying all around a "Want to upgrade?" message... make you feel pretty bad, dear user, by tagging you as a "non-suscriber" while you figure out what's wrong with the app.

DUDE, let me experience the service properly first, oh wait... I can't.

d) The few decent/basic UI comes from a lame copy from Songza web player and Grooveshark (old version).

e) I got the promo(SPAM) through a 3rd party, not even themselves.

So, either this is some kind of scam (I wish, it is not)... or Sony really fkd it up, funny enough people still say you don't need UX teams... result? Closed the site, and really... not thinking on visiting again any year soon. Guess that's the downside of being a UX Consultant, sorry Sony but you don't even deserve a "nice try"... so far it's been the worse ever.

For those who want to remember how million of entrepreneurs lost billion of dollars thru 1999-2004 with fail online projects based on their guts and no research at all, pay them a visit.

Funniest thing... Im now starting to doubt on buying a PS4 which I had in mind for few months now... cause and effect, UX Respect.

Cheers

Adobe update for Mavericks (Java 6)

As any other year, here it goes.
Mavericks (OSX 10.9) was just released for free! and even tho its quite a download (5.52GB) took just a bit of time and patience to update and get it running.

It looks almost like the previous version, Mountain Lion, and regardless of the many enhancements it has based on energy and memory consumption, for the common end user the update will be sort of a... small one, few new apps, few new daily used tools.

Adobe products have been always painful after an OSX update, and funny enough it's always about the Java runtime. Even they stated CS6 and beyond would be fully compatible with Mavericks, well... it isn't, you need either to update again the apps or update the java runtime.

So for those who are getting the java error (awkward... you get it just with few apps, not all of them), here's the link so you can fix and update it:

Java Support Apple Site

So go and get it, mhm.

Demonoid is back...'sh.

You know the drill, tons can try to copy, few know how to do it right.
Torrent sites have been around us for a long time now, many of them got big attention, like TPB or H33T, and as many torrent sites most of them have been closed.

I do have my own POV bout torrents, I don't support piracy as its core states (stealing) but you see...
I don't support stupid people tho, at all... movies filmed in a cinema? da fuq... seriously, one thing is to get a dvd rip (by then the movie made a decent amount of money), another is to fkn kill the main concept bout movies (image, sound, quality) by filming it with a camcorder, ridiculous. Stealing is bad, no matter which side you're at tho.

Anyway, since this topic is way too ambivalent, I'll tell you what you already know... I hope.
Demonoid, was probably the best torrent site available, maybe it had less torrents and users, but the quality of both were trizillion times better than any other. Users were skilled, they'd interact in the community with proper info, feedback, files... it was very hard to find an ill or old torrent, quality was assured in most of them. Thanks to their "by invitation only" user system, the community was made and maintained by trusted people.

And of course, it was seized, and shut down.
It's been a year since the last try of demonoid.me was turned off, but as you can imagine, Demonoid is back. Different people behind it, they say they got their hands all over Demonoid's data from the seized servers, and made it available back again at www.d2.vu , their design is as you can see... identical, they just changed logo and colors, I tried my old user and pass, it worked which means, it is INDEED the full Demonoid backup running again.

There are no invitations for now.
Their torrent database is outdated since it comes from an old backup, but old users are using the beta system and uploading new stuff, little by little so probably it will refresh its content pretty soon completly.

So if you still remember your user and pass, go and try it, the beta test is for that, they claim they'll launch an alpha version soon if the system keeps stable so... let us see, enjoy, and as they say, remember... if you like it, BUY it.
